Kingdom of Denmark guarantees all deposits including interbank deposits with Danish banks:
On Monday 6 October the Kingdom of Denmark announced an unlimited guarantee for all bank deposits (including interbank deposits) and senior debt (unsecured unsubor-dinated debt) in Denmark. The guarantee runs for two years. The cover is established through a joint agreement between the government and the financial sector, where the financial sector has to pay a guarantee commission for the Kingdom’s guarantee. The safety net is combined with a ban on dividend payments and share purchases by banks. On 1O October the Danish Folketing formally approved the Kingdom of Denmark Guarantee of all bank deposits including interbank deposits and senior debt. The guarantee will be starting 5 October 2008 and ending on 30 September 2010.
